1:1 Breathwork and Bodywork Support

A space centred around you, your experiences and what you need.

You may already recognise some of the patterns that keep showing up in your life.

Perhaps you find yourself putting other people first, saying yes when you want to say no, worrying about disappointing someone or feeling responsible for how other people feel.

You might overthink conversations and relationships, find boundaries uncomfortable or know something intellectually but still find yourself responding in the same familiar way.

Sometimes we know the pattern.

But that doesn't necessarily mean we notice it happening within our body.

This is where my approach is a little different.

Working with the mind and the body

Our experiences can show up in many different ways.

  • A thought.
  • An emotion.
  • A change in your breathing.
  • Tension somewhere in your body.
  • An urge to move towards something or pull away.
  • Or perhaps very little sensation at all.

Rather than only talking about what you're experiencing, our sessions create opportunities to become curious about what else you notice.

You don't need to be good at noticing sensations or already feel connected to your body. In fact, you may find this difficult at first.

There is no right way to experience this work.

What Happens During A Session?

My 1:1 sessions are 90 minutes and don't follow a set formula.

We begin with what's happening for you.

That might be something you've been experiencing recently, a familiar pattern you've noticed, a particular relationship or situation, or simply a feeling that something isn't quite right and you're not sure why.

From there, I draw upon different approaches depending on you and what feels appropriate within the session.

This may include:

  • Breathwork and breath awareness
  • Bodywork
  • Embodiment and body awareness practices
  • Conscious Connected Breathwork
  • Nervous system education and practices
  • Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
  • Clinical hypnotherapy
  • Guided meditation and visualisation
  • Reflective journaling

We won't necessarily use all of these.

The approach is shaped around you rather than fitting you around an approach.

You don't need to go back into your past

Our earlier relationships and experiences can influence patterns that continue into adulthood.

But working with me doesn't mean you need to revisit difficult memories or tell me everything that's happened to you.

  • We can work with what's showing up now.
  • Perhaps that's noticing what happens when you need to set a boundary.
  • What you experience when somebody is disappointed with you.
  • The urge to keep the peace.
  • The guilt that comes with putting yourself first.
  • Or what happens within your body when you try to slow down.

Sometimes understanding where something began can be helpful. Sometimes it isn't necessary.

  • You remain in choice about what you explore and what you share.
  • You may already know why
  • You might have had counselling or therapy before.
  • You may have read about attachment styles, people-pleasing, childhood experiences or the nervous system.
  • Perhaps you already have a good understanding of why you respond in certain ways.

That understanding can be incredibly valuable. My work doesn't replace it.

Instead, we can explore another part of the experience:

What happens within you when the pattern is actually happening?

  • Can you notice your breath change?
  • Is there tension?
  • An impulse?
  • A feeling of wanting to move towards, away or shut down?
  • Do you notice yourself automatically agreeing before you've considered what you actually want?

Becoming aware of these moments isn't about getting the response right. It's about beginning to notice yourself within it.

A Trauma-Informed and Choice-Led Approach

Choice and consent are important throughout my work.

I won't tell you what a sensation means or decide what your body is communicating for you.

  • You can pause.
  • Change position.
  • Open your eyes.
  • Move.
  • Choose not to take part in a practice.
  • Say no to touch.
  • Or tell me that something doesn't feel right for you.

Bodywork is always consented to, and consent can be changed at any point.

There is no expectation to have an emotional release, remember something from your past or reach a particular outcome.

Your experience belongs to you.

Conscious Connected Breathwork Within 1:1 Sessions

Conscious Connected Breathwork may be incorporated into our work where it feels appropriate and there are no contraindications.

This is a continuous, connected breathing practice that can create an opportunity to explore your breath, body, emotions and internal experience more deeply.

Every breathwork experience is different.

Some people notice physical sensations or emotions. Others experience relaxation, clarity, greater body awareness or something entirely different.

There is no expectation that you need to release anything.

Before using Conscious Connected Breathwork, we'll discuss the practice together and make sure it's appropriate for you.

Do I Need More Than One Session?

Do I Need More Than One Session?

There isn't a set number of sessions you need to commit to.

Some people come with something specific they'd like to explore. Others choose to work with me over a longer period as different things begin to emerge or become more noticeable.

We can discuss what feels appropriate for you without committing to a package or predetermined programme.

Is 1:1 Support Right for Me?

This way of working may feel appropriate if you'd like:

  • Individual support shaped around you
  • Space to explore familiar patterns in more depth
  • An approach that includes the body as well as talking
  • To develop greater awareness of your own responses
  • Choice over the pace and direction of the work
  • To explore breathwork or bodywork within an individual setting

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on.

Sometimes the starting point is simply:

"I've noticed I keep doing this, and I'd like to explore it."

Ready To Begin?

If something you've read here feels familiar, you're welcome to get in touch.

You can tell me a little about what you're experiencing, ask any questions you have and we can consider whether working together feels appropriate.
