Breathwork and Bodywork in Gillingham, Kent

When you’ve spent years putting everyone else first, it can be hard to know what you need.

People-pleasing. Feeling guilty for saying no. Worrying about disappointing others. Overthinking relationships. Finding it difficult to put yourself first.

Perhaps you’re the one who keeps the peace, adapts to everyone around you or carries on regardless of how you’re feeling.

You may already know you do these things. You may even understand why.

But knowing doesn’t always change how you respond.

This is where working with the body can offer something different.

Patterns have a history

We learn a lot about ourselves and relationships through our earliest experiences.

If you grew up around difficult family relationships, separation, conflict, unpredictability, emotional distance or simply didn’t always feel that your needs and feelings had space, you may have learned ways of adapting to the people around you.

Keeping the peace. Being good. Staying quiet. Becoming independent. Looking after others. Avoiding conflict. Trying not to disappoint anyone.

These responses can make sense within the circumstances in which they developed.

But sometimes we carry them with us.

Years later, they may show up as difficulty setting boundaries, anxiety within relationships, people-pleasing, guilt, overthinking or automatically putting someone else’s needs before your own.

Your body knows

Our experiences don’t only show up through our thoughts.

You might notice yourself holding your breath when something feels difficult. Your jaw tightening when you want to say something but don’t. Your shoulders becoming tense. A heaviness in your chest or stomach. Restlessness when you try to slow down.

Or perhaps you find it difficult to notice what you’re feeling in your body at all.

Working with the body gives us another place to begin.

Rather than needing to analyse everything or find the right words, I invite you to become curious about what you notice; your breath, sensations, responses and the ways your body communicates with you.

There is no expectation that you should feel anything in particular.

Greater awareness creates more choice.

How Healing Breath Can Support You

You may want individual support to explore your own patterns and experiences more deeply. You may feel drawn to experiencing breathwork in a group, or perhaps you simply need some intentional time to slow down and reconnect with yourself.

My work ranges from personalised 1:1 support to restorative wellbeing experiences and Conscious Connected Breathwork.

Whichever way you choose to work with me, my approach is trauma-informed and choice-led. There is no expectation for you to experience, feel or share anything you don't want to.

Personalised Wellbeing Support

A space centred around you and what you're experiencing.

Our work together may include breathwork, bodywork, embodiment practices, nervous system awareness, hypnotherapy or EFT, depending on what feels appropriate for you.

We can explore patterns such as people-pleasing, difficulty with boundaries, anxiety, overthinking, putting yourself last or finding it difficult to know what you need.

Rather than following a set process, sessions are shaped around you, with choice and consent throughout.

Conscious Connected Breathwork

An opportunity to step away from everyday life and spend some intentional time reconnecting with your breath, your body and yourself.

Conscious Connected Breathwork uses a continuous breathing pattern and can create space to notice physical sensations, emotions, thoughts or simply a deeper awareness of yourself.

Every experience is different. There is no expectation that you need to release anything, have an emotional experience or reach a particular outcome.

Wellbeing Experiences

Sometimes you don't need to explore everything deeply. Sometimes you need some time where you're not looking after, organising or doing something for somebody else.

My monthly women's gatherings create space to slow down and reconnect through practices such as gentle breathwork, movement, embodiment, journaling and meditation.

Each experience is different, but the intention remains the same: giving you some intentional time to notice yourself amongst everything else you're carrying.

Workplace Wellbeing

We can spend a large part of our lives at work, often moving from one demand to the next without noticing how much we're carrying with us.

My workplace wellbeing sessions introduce practical breathwork, body-based practices and nervous system awareness that can be used within the working day as well as outside of it.

Sessions are designed around the needs of your organisation and the people within it, with a focus on practical experiences that can support wellbeing in real life.

THE HEALING BREATH APPROACH

Working with more than your thoughts

Talking and understanding can be incredibly valuable.

But you may have reached a point where you already know you're a people-pleaser. You know you struggle with boundaries. You know you overthink. You may even have a good understanding of where some of these patterns began.

And yet your body can still respond before you've had time to think.

  • The breath changes.
  • The chest tightens.
  • The stomach drops.
  • The urge to say yes appears when you really want to say no.

This is why I work with both the breath and the body.

Rather than trying to force a different response, we begin by noticing what's already happening.

Over time, greater awareness can create more opportunity for choice, including recognising what you feel, what you need and how you want to respond.

 Online Breathwork Session

Working and breathing with Clare has been transformational. Her mix of hypnotherapy with therapeutic breathwork and bodywork is profound. I always feel safe and contained and allowed to feel all I am, as I am.
I’ve really felt a homecoming to myself, to my body and true essence when she holds me!

It's definitely something that everyone should try, the body awareness is very enlightening.

I just want to say thank you, I was a little apprehensive going in to the session, but you made me feel very comfortable and safe, thank you.

In-person Breathwork Session

Paying attention on each and every individual, I felt very listened to and connected throughout the session. E.g. when I shared my experience having my young daughter, traumatic childbirth.

I felt very seen, heard and held during the session. I really liked the hands-on technique, I felt the support and didn’t feel alone.

Why This Work Matters To Me

I'm Clare, a Breathwork and Bodywork Facilitator and the founder of Healing Breath.

My professional work is supported by training, but my interest in this area also comes from lived experience.

I grew up within a dysfunctional family and experienced parental separation and difficult family relationships. As I moved through adulthood, I began recognising how some of those earlier experiences had influenced patterns within my own life, including people-pleasing, attachment, boundaries and the ways I had learned to adapt myself around other people.

Understanding those patterns was an important part of my journey.

But I also began to recognise the difference between knowing something intellectually and experiencing it differently within my body.

That discovery eventually became part of the reason I trained in breathwork and bodywork.

Your experiences won't be the same as mine, and I won't assume to know what something means for you.

What I can offer is a space where you don't need to have all the answers, explain everything perfectly or know where to begin.

We can start with what you're noticing now.
